The dethroned Miss

The issue was scheduled to have the first and only Miss Universe dethroned during the full exercise of his reign in the history of the competition. The two winners crowned earlier that there were fully complied with the mandate and the Finnish Armi Kuusela pioneer, Miss Universe 1952 Amparo Muñoz and Spanish, Miss Universe 1974 both by waiving the title that became vacant until the election of new successor.

Miss Universe 2002 was the 51st edition of the contest, held on May 29, 2002 at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Oxana Fedorova, Miss Russia was crowned defeating 74 other candidates. Fedorova, however, was dethroned four months after the coronation, being replaced by the runner-up Justine Pasek the Panamanian, henceforth officially recognized by the Miss Universe Organization as Miss Universe 2002.
